Offshore Bank Details to be released

Release of bank account details in Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey. Individuals who have been using offshore accounts in the Isle of Man, Guernsey or Jersey to evade tax are being offered the opportunity to make a voluntary disclosure to HMRC prior to facing an investigation.   HMRC have stated that such individuals have until 30 September to come forward and to pay the tax, interest and penalties due. The Crown Dependencies have agreed with the UK to provide information from banks identifying all UK account holders.  HMRC have warned that any individual who ignores the disclosure opportunity could face criminal prosecution. HMRC have estimated that the disclosure opportunity and the release of the information will result in the receipt of over £1bn of previously unpaid tax. Elaine Jess, Partner
