Practice Achievement Review 2013

2013 has been a year where the Milner Boardman team has had significant achievements both professionally and in our community commitment/responsibility work. Max, our trainee apprentice won the Altrincham & Sale Chamber of Commerce Apprentice of the Year Award and Stella, who is a long-standing member of our team, we nominated for the Employee of the Year award. From a professional viewpoint, a number of our team continue to progress through professional examinations, fully supported by the firm as our investment in their and the firm's future. Nancy our Practice Manager qualified as a Minister of Religion and is very active in this role working in the community and spreading the word. Malcolm who heads our personal tax department also works in this area as a preacher for his church and plays a very active community role. All our team contribute to supporting charitable causes whether that be by supporting our adopted charity, the Children's Adventure Farm Trust,  or our regular pay a pound to dress down days. In September we hosted Noddy Holders famous music quiz which raised over £5,000 for CAFT and back in April I ran the Boston marathon which raised over £3,000. I am currently in the middle of completing the final 3 of the World Marathon Majors that I hadn't completed. New York was conquered in November and then I moved straight on to training for Tokyo in February 2014 before completing the 6th of the majors in London in April. Again, I am hoping that we can use these exploits to raise funds for CAFT and donations can be made at We have already reached nearly £1,000 thanks to some very generous donations. From a personal viewpoint, I have also been very active as Chairman of Altrincham & Sale Chamber of Commerce and as a main board member of Altrincham Forward, a public/private sector initiative working hard on the regeneration of Altrincham. This work continues into 2014 when we will start to see some very positive changes in Altrincham that will be good for business generally in the town. And finally, for 2013 I became a Grandfather for the first time and have a lovely Grandson, Ethan, which makes me realise I am probably getting a bit too old for all this running around the World lark! Have a great Christmas and New Year. Tony Collier, Managing Director
